Spiritual Healing: Journey of Self-Discovery and Integration

As a research scientist deeply rooted in Vedic traditions, my journey through life has always been guided by both logic and spirituality. This balance between two seemingly opposing worlds—science and ancient wisdom—has helped me navigate the complexities of life. I hold a belief in non-duality, the idea that there is no separation between the self and the universe. This view has profoundly influenced how I see and experience the world, but it also often leaves me in a space where few can fully relate. Despite this grounding, like anyone else, I’m not immune to life’s dilemmas. Sometimes, the uncertainties of change feel overwhelming, and I find myself searching for answers in both my personal and professional life.

Working in the field of mental health and chronic pain, I am no stranger to the miseries of human suffering. Witnessing others' pain on a daily basis affects you in ways you might not expect. I often turn to traditional counseling services to process the complex emotions that arise from my work. Yet, recently, I decided to explore a different avenue—one that resonated more deeply with my spiritual upbringing. This time, I sought out spiritual healing with Nidhi Malik, a practitioner of Vedic astrology-based healing.

While I expected the session to focus on planetary movements and the logic of cosmic influences, I found myself experiencing something far more profound—an experience of introspection, self-exploration, and deep personal insight.

Introspection Over Remedies

When I sat down for my first session with Nidhi Malik, I was prepared for a discussion centered around the intricacies of planetary alignments and their impact on my life. I anticipated a session filled with logical interpretations of celestial movements. However, what I encountered was something completely unexpected. Instead of offering astrological predictions or rituals, Nidhi encouraged me to explore my inner world.

She allowed me to voice the burdening questions that had been weighing on my mind—the dilemmas I had been grappling with, and the unhealthy habits I knew were negatively affecting my well-being. Instead of prescribing specific remedies or rituals, she took a trauma-informed approach, helping me understand myself holistically. She guided me to look at the deeper aspects of my life and actions that I had been avoiding.

As someone trained to look for logic and evidence, this introspective process felt strangely familiar yet refreshing. Nidhi didn’t offer solutions; she helped me find them within myself. This was not a session about external fixes but about uncovering the patterns that had been hindering my emotional and spiritual growth.

The Surprising Twist: Tool for Affirmation

Even though I felt a sense of clarity after our conversations, a part of me still craved validation. It’s a common impulse—the need to feel that the universe is aligned with our personal choices, that we are truly on the right path. Sensing this desire, Nidhi introduced an element I didn’t expect: she pulled out card and chart.

I was skeptical at first. As a scientist, I was more familiar with data, not divination. However, as Nidhi explained, the card and chart wasn’t about predicting the future or relying on fate. Instead, it was a tool for affirmation—a way to reflect on the clarity I had already begun to find within myself.

In that moment, I realized that my chart and card was no different from the tools used by psychotherapists or psychologists in therapy. Just as they might use assessments or progress scores to track mental and emotional health, the chart served as a mirror to validate the insights I had gained through introspection. It wasn’t about the chart itself, but about what it symbolized: a confirmation that I was on the right track.

Healing on Multiple Levels: Conscious, Subconscious, and Unconscious

This experience led me to reflect on the different layers of healing and how various modalities address them. In my work and personal experience, I’ve seen how counseling operates primarily on the conscious mind. It helps us process our thoughts and emotions in real-time, guiding us through our immediate feelings and behaviors.

In contrast, practices like hypnosis or hypnotherapy dive into the subconscious mind, uncovering deeply rooted patterns and memories that influence our behaviors from beneath the surface. These therapies are particularly effective in addressing habits and beliefs we may not be fully aware of.

But there’s a deeper layer still—the unconscious mind—where our most profound desires, fears, and karmic imprints reside. This is where spiritual healing, particularly Vedic astrology-based healing, operates. It works on a soul level, addressing the unconscious influences that shape our lives long before they manifest into our conscious awareness. This is where true transformation begins, and this was the level at which my sessions with Nidhi unfolded.

Through our conversations, I came to realize that spiritual healing isn’t about finding immediate solutions. It’s about creating space for self-exploration and allowing the deepest parts of ourselves to rise to the surface, where we can acknowledge, understand, and heal them.

A Culturally Responsive Approach to Healing

One of the most powerful aspects of my experience with Nidhi was how culturally responsive her approach was. As someone deeply grounded in both modern science and ancient spiritual traditions, I’ve often found it difficult to find healing practices that resonate with my personal worldview. Many traditional therapies, while valuable, can sometimes feel disconnected from the spiritual dimension that is so central to my life.

Nidhi’s approach, however, allowed me to bridge that gap. She didn’t offer me one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, she helped me engage with my own questions and struggles in a way that felt deeply aligned with my cultural and spiritual background. This holistic approach to healing respected both my rational and spiritual sides, offering me a way to integrate both in my journey toward well-being.

A Lesson in Self-Trust

Ultimately, my journey with Vedic astrology-based spiritual healing wasn’t about external remedies or predictions. It was about introspection—about looking inward and realizing that the answers I had been seeking were already within me. The Vedic astrology chart, much like the assessments used in psychotherapy, was simply a tool for affirmation, offering me reassurance that I was on the right path.

As I reflect on my experience, I realize that healing isn’t about looking to the stars for answers or relying on external solutions. It’s about aligning our conscious, subconscious, and unconscious selves, understanding the patterns that shape our lives, and making mindful changes that honor who we truly are.

Science and Spirituality in Harmony

My experience with Nidhi Malik and Vedic astrology-based spiritual healing has taught me that science and spirituality are not at odds—they are complementary. While science helps us understand the world around us through logic and reason, spirituality helps us navigate the inner world, guiding us toward self-awareness, healing, and peace.

As a scientist, I’ve always sought concrete answers. But through this journey, I’ve learned that sometimes the most profound truths come from within. Healing isn’t a destination or a set of rituals—it’s a process of introspection, self-awareness, and alignment with the universe. And in that process, both science and spirituality play their part in helping us discover our true path.

In just two sessions, I’ve made tremendous progress in areas where I felt stuck when I first began this healing journey. The blend of introspection and spiritual guidance has helped me unlock insights and clarity I hadn't anticipated. As I look forward to continuing this process, I’m excited for what more will unfold—not just in terms of solutions but in deeper self-awareness and alignment with my true path. The journey has only begun, and I am eager to see where it leads.
